Our little cuckoo told us that Abraham Lincoln never slept in the Lincoln Bedroom. It was because the place didn't have a bedroom until 1902. The space in the house was formerly an office and used for meetings. However, Margaret Wilson, who resided there for a brief period (back then known as 'blue suite'), was most likely the first to spend a night there. Until the Truman administration, the room was dedicated to Abraham Lincoln.
Trivia 2: William Howard Taft installed a 'Screened sleeping porch, in the White House for temperature control
Experts believe that the optimal room temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit, but did you know that the body generally stops regulating its temperature during REM sleep? When a room is sweltering, REM cycles decrease, and resting isn't restful anymore. To address this very issue of sleeping too hot, William Howard Taft had a 'screened sleeping porch' installed on the roof of the White House to escape the hot summers of Washington DC at night.

Our circadian cycles govern most of our sleep habits. However, these rhythms can be changeable based on our daily routines. Barack Obama allegedly slept for around 5 hours every night, preferring to go to bed after midnight and get up at 7 am every day. Being a night owl (or an early bird) might thus be a combination of nature and upbringing.

Though after his constituency, he shed 70 pounds on the advice of his doctor (who presumably did not prescribe a bourbon shot before breakfast), and his sleep apnea and daytime lethargy were gone. Of course, this was before CPAP devices were available.

To your surprise, there was a time at a Washington hospital for an overnight stay when Theodore Roosevelt snored so loudly that the staff had to relocate an entire floor of patients. Snoring is frequently caused by sleep apnea, which may have affected the 26th president. Sleep problems affected Roosevelt throughout his life, especially when he gained weight.
