Feng Shui: Tips to Energize Your Bedroom
Is your bedroom designed in such a way to energize you every day? Or, is it completely cluttered, creating a place of negative energy? The art of Feng Shui can help you create a more positive and calming environment, in which you can get the rest and relaxation you need to survive the work week and other stressors we face every day. Not sure how to properly Feng Shui your bedroom? We have you covered. Here are some of the tips to help you create a revitalizing environment.
- De-Clutter the Area Beneath Your Bed
One of the most spiritually damaging things is clutter, whether you see it or not. Chaos is the enemy of Feng Shui and even the mess under your bed can affect the energy flow in your bedroom. Take some time to clean the area under of your bed and you may feel a positive change the next time you go to sleep. Besides, clutter creates stress and we should keep it to a minimum as much as possible.
- Earth Tones Are Your Friend
Studies have found that colors definitely affect behavior, emotions, and moods. Decorating with yellow and red not only create an environment that induces high-paced activity, they also increase appetite. Have you ever wondered why restaurants stick towards these color palettes in ads and materials? Now you know. Using lighter tones like green, brown, or blue are best for making your bedroom a more relaxing and restful place.
- A Good Bedroom Set Makes all the Difference
Feng Shui experts all agree that having a comfortable bed is important for making a bedroom more Feng Shui friendly. This includes everything from having a solid headboard, comfortable mattress, soft pillows, better linens, and a quality comforter. Good sleep is one of the most important things that a body needs to re-energize itself and you are simply not going to be able to get it with a sub-standard bedroom set.
- Electronics Are Your Enemy
While it is nice to enjoy a movie or TV show in bed, electronics turn our rooms into high energy and insomnia-inducing environments. Feng Shui experts also state that electronics release electromagnetic energy and should be kept out of the bedroom altogether.
- Pleasant Aromas
Aromas are also very important for good Feng Shui. A calming smell like lavender or orange oil can de-stress and be very relaxing for the body, mind, and soul. It is also important to keep your bedclothes clean because dingy sheets and blankets create terrible aromas that can create negative vibes in your bedroom. Plus, who enjoys sleeping in a dirty bed?
- Plants May or May Not Be Your Friend
Some Feng Shui experts state that you should avoid plants in your room because plant energy is focused on growth and upward movement. However, there is also the school of thought that plants can create a serene and relaxing environment. There are valid arguments on both sides of the coin for this matter. If you prefer to have plants in your bedroom, you should keep them small and not use more than two or three. Remember, clutter is detrimental to positive energy.
- Location, Location, Location (For Your Bed)
The positioning of your bed is extremely important for proper Feng Shui energy flow. A bed should never be west-facing. Nor should it be placed under a support beam. Your headboard should not lean against a window; however, it should lean against a solid wall, but never the bathroom wall. A bed should be parallel or perpendicular to a wall and should not face the bedroom door directly. Finally, a bed should not face a mirror.
Before You Go…
Whether you choose to follow any or all of these tips are not, the most important thing is to be comfortable and content in your bedroom. Your bedroom should be a place of rest and relaxation, not stress and anxiety. Do what feels best for you and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
