More foods That Help You Sleep
Here’s the second of our two part series on foods that will make you feel good when you eat them, while having the added benefit of upping your sleep quality after you lay down on Nectar’s wonderful foam mattresses. These foods not only satisfy your cravings before bed, they also satisfy your cravings for a great night’s sleep.
As always, it’s good to eat in moderation. Don’t worry, these are some healthy snacks that won’t put too much of a strain on your body or brain. They’re simple, easy, and work great, kind of like foam mattresses from Nectar. If you haven’t tried one yet, what are you waiting for? No other direct to consumer bed company builds Hi Core Adaptive foam into their foam mattresses. This is premium adaptive foam, and it is the single best inner layer for contouring a mattress to your pressure points. That’s a guarantee you won’t find anywhere else.
So what kinds of foods can you rock on a Nectar? Here are a couple of our favorites that will get you snoozing in a hurry.
The old stand by. The National Sleep Center actually said that a bowl of cereal is a great way to get your body for bed. The milk is soothing (a glass before bed on its own is a tried and true method), and the glycemic index of cereal will make you just a little drowsy before nodding off. Of course it depends on the cereal, corn flakes are always going to be better than anything super sugary or processed. It’s like our foam mattresses, the materials matter, so make them high quality.
Kale is something that seems like it only came into our lives a couple years ago, but now is ubiquitous, kind of like foam mattresses that you can order online. Also like foam mattresses, this summer time food is great for producing restful sleep. The calcium in kale helps your brain process tryptophan so that you can produce melatonin (crucial to good and even sleep). If you aren’t feeling eating raw kale, try lightly dusting with olive oil and baking into kale chips.
For mid day snacker/nappers, hummus and some whole grain crackers is a great option. The chickpeas in hummus are rich in tryptophan, and the whole grain helps the brain produce serotonin. This is a perfect light snack before taking a quick power nap on our Nectar foam mattresses. Try it out and see your afternoon energy soar.
Crustaceans are a great source of tryptophan. These tasty seafood items are also nutrient dense and full of the right kinds of fat. A seafood salad and a glass of red wine for dinner sounds like the perfect way to end a long day.
So there you have it, a ton of great tasting and sleep inducing foods. And as always, sleep comes easiest when you’re on a Nectar mattress. What summer foods are helping you sleep this year? Leave us a comment and let us know!
