3 Wellness Tips For Better Sleep
Wellness is the bedrock of our lives. If you feel good, you’ll perform better at work, at home, and at the gym. There are obviously tons of factors that go into a comprehensive wellness plan, but unfortunately the first one to get thrown out the window is sleep time. Well, the facts are in and sleeping could actually be the most important detail to emphasize when coming up with a new wellness regimen. Yes, new beds and mattresses are just as important as new gyms and yoga poses.
Chill on the Coffee
Coffee is the lifeblood of the workforce these days. But planning out when you drink it is super crucial to owning your sleep schedule. The buzz off of coffee can come right away. But coffee’s half life can actually be up to 12 hours. That means that if you drink a cup at noon, the effects could last until eleven or twelve at night. If you can, try to avoid having a second or third cup in the early afternoon. It may give you the buzz you need in the moment, but it could mean that you’re tossing and turning all night. One #naphack that we like is a coffee nap. Take a 20-minute snooze right after your cup of coffee and you’ll be zinging.
Don’t Feel Guilty About Mattress Time
We are programmed to be in work mode all the time these days. While this can be great for flexibility, it can lead to a lot of stress. With email on our phones, slack on our laptops, and the internet only a tap away we’ve learned to always be available to our clients and our bosses. This is often at the expense of our personal lives and even more often, our sleep and wellness. How often have you heard a coworker brag about how little sleep they’ve gotten during the week while working on a project? Don’t be afraid to get nine hours if you need it. Trust us, that email will still be waiting for you when you wake up.
Listen To Your Body
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it bares being said: listen to what your body is telling you. If you feel tired and overworked, then you probably are! It’s ok to take a mental wellness day to catch up on some Zs, but lifestyle changes are always the best and most lasting route to take.
