A Good Mattress Can Help You Achieve a Better Body

Summer is upon us, and with that comes a renewed focus on fitness and having a healthy body. It’s not just about getting the beach body you want, (though who doesn’t want that?). Your health is such an important part of enjoying your life. And did you know that a good night’s sleep is just as critical to your dream body as diet and exercise. That’s right – a good mattress can help you achieve a better body.

A Good Mattress = A Full Night’s Sleep

We all know that exercise and diet are important factors in hitting those goals, but it turns out that there is something else that could be a crucial component — a full night’s sleep on a good mattress. The Nectar team has been diving deep into research to make sure that Nectar mattresses, made from premium foam, can provide the sleep you need to help you get the rested and healthy body you want.

Sleep and Impulse Control Problems with Food

A new study shows that otherwise healthy adults who are sleep deprived are more likely to exhibit impulse control problems with food because of a decrease in the hormone that promotes fullness. These hormones are produced in the body while sleeping, making portion control much easier for a person working with a full night’s sleep. While a good mattress isn’t the only aspect of finding this sleep, it is a crucial component. To put it in simple terms, you spend a third of your life on a mattress, it should be a good one. Not only that, but sleep can be a contributing factor in the foods that we crave. A 2012 study at Columbia University showed that, while hooked up to an MRI, normal weight adults who were sleep deprived had a greater brain response to non-nutritious foods. Additionally, food journals from these patients showed that they had a much higher caloric intake while being sleep deprived. That means that if you are not sleeping on a good mattress, you are more likely to get up in the night and finish off that pint of ice cream — even though you know you shouldn’t. And sleep isn’t just tied to weight gain, a study by the American Heart Association showed that cardiometabolic health was directly tied to how many hours of sleep a person gets.

Get at Least Seven Hours of Sleep

People who got at least seven hours of sleep were less likely to develop serious heart diseases. Diseases like arrhythmias, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, and stroke are caused by lack of sleep. Sleep on a good mattress recharges your batteries, relieving stress and refreshing you after a long day. Nectar mattresses are built to help you recharge after a long day. The same study showed that a full night’s sleep also decreased the chances a person would have metabolic disorders. These disorders include type- two diabetes or dyslipidemia. A few easy lifestyle changes can prevent long-term health issues. Start with increasing the amount of sleep you get.
