Even More All Natural Tips to Get the Best Sleep Ever
Here is part two in our series on getting the best sleep of your life without using medication or going on expensive doctor’s visits. Science has come a long way in helping to cope with insomnia, and now with Nectar’s foam mattress technology and these helpful tips, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get the best night’s sleep that you deserve. These techniques are sound, developed by physician Karen Schubert, and can work immediately. Give them a try, and let us know how much you love your new foam mattress in the comments!
Mix in Some Magnesium
Magnesium is a natural sleep aid (kind of like a foam mattress). It works quickly to relax your muscles and brain. It’s something the body naturally craves. So it’s much better than taking an artificial sleep aid when faced with the prospect of another sleepless night. While there is always the option to take a supplement, it’s much better and natural to try magnesium rich foods. Magnesium can be found in almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, and many leafy vegetables. An added benefit is that these foods are all snackable while chilling on your Nectar foam mattress. Not only that, but magnesium can also be found in an epsom salt bath, so try soaking in the tub for a bit before bed if you’re trying to de-stress. It could make all the difference when you’re trying to drift off.
Keep Your Cortisol in Control
Cortisol is a natural hormone produced in the body during stressful situations. It can make you alert and amped up, which is a benefit during the day, but can be stressful when you’re trying to catch some Z’s. While you can’t get rid of it once it’s there, there are many things you can do to minimize its production before it starts. Try being mindful, practice meditation, yoga, and breathing exercises. Avoid stressors before bed: that means don’t watch that sci fi alien invasion movie right before you climb onto your foam mattress! It can also mean avoid having conflict with your partner before you go to bed. Those arguments always seem less important after a good night’s sleep anyway.
Steal Away for a Catnap
It may seem counterintuitive to think that more sleep during the day will help you sleep better at night, but it’s true. A quick twenty minute catnap can help restore your body’s natural clock and better allow you to finish your day strong. Be careful not to nod off on your foam mattress for too long, however, longer than twenty minutes and your body can feel groggy after, throwing off your sleep cycle and making sleep even harder to come by. And as always, trying a foam mattress is a sensible option if you’re still having difficulties. We describe Nectar as medium firm. With Nectar you get the support of a firm mattress with the comfort of a pillow top, this means it conforms while still supporting your body. Sounds heavenly, doesn’t it?
